General

Q. Is it possible to correlate hard and soft data (e.g., sales growth and extremely competitive environment)?

A. Yes. By using so-called quality rules, hard and soft data can be linked and analyzed (e.g., sales growth X must match market growth Y).

Q. In addition to collecting hard data (e.g., financial key figures), does SOLYP3 collect soft data (e.g., competitive strength, trends)?

A. Yes. The structured collection of soft data is the unique selling proposition of SOLYP3.

Q. Can common management methods and tools (e.g., SWOT analysis, benchmarking, portfolio management) be used in the strategic planning process?

A. Yes. These methods and tools are supported through individual questionnaires.

Q. Can data be entered and analysed by subject area?

A. Yes. SOLYP3 is questionnaire-based. Each questionnaire facilitates the collection, analysis, and output of data on a particular strategic subject area (e.g., market and competition, trends, SWOT, objectives and measures, risk management).

Q. Can the system be configured to facilitate both a top-down and bottom-up approach to data collection?

A. Yes. Top-down/bottom-up planning is a key feature of SOLYP3.

Q. Is it possible to select multiple filter criteria and output the results as a report?

A. Yes.

Q. Which filter options are available for reports?

A. Reports can be filtered by dimension (function, organization, region) as well as by strategic topic (market, competition, trends, etc.).

Q. Is data output in Excel, PowerPoint, or Word available?

A. Yes.

Q. Are reports customizable (layout and/or content-related adjustments)?

A. Yes. All reports can be customized to fit the individual reporting requirements of the customer.

Q. It is possible to output standardized reports?

A. Yes. In all available formats (XLS, PPT, Word, PDF, HTML, XML).

Q. What changes can be made to the application by the user (administrator) himself?

A. The planning matrix is multi-dimensional (function, organization, and region) and can be fully edited by the user.

Q. Is it possible to display multiple companies in SOLYP3?

A. Yes. Both the number as well as the hierarchy can be extended or reduced by the user without restrictions.

System Architecture

Q. How many data sets can be processed without causing any delays or impairments (e.g., when generating reports)?

A. SOLYP3 supports two scenarios:
a) Local reporting on the client computer - limited only by the computing resources of the client
b) Central reporting on a report server - first-in-first-out policy with notification system.

Q. How many users can simultaneously work with the system without causing undue delay (computing time)?

A. Depending on hardware available, SOLYP3 can serve up to 1,000 users simultaneously.

Q. Can data be collected decentralized (different locations)?

A. Yes. This is one of the major architecture approaches of SOLYP3.

Q. Are user administration tools such as MS Active Directory or LDAP (SUN Directory Server) supported?

A. Yes. These tools are fully integrated.

Server Installation

Q. Are data warehouse tools or any other additional software needed?

A. No.

Q. If web server installation is necessary, which products are supported (e.g., Apache/Tomcat, JBoss, SUN One Application Server, MS IIS)?

A. All available products are supported with preference for Tomcat.

Q. Is the operation of virtual servers (ESX) and centralized storage systems (NAS) supported?

A. Yes. The support of virtual servers and centralized storage systems is guaranteed.

Q. What operating systems (e.g., MS Windows Server 2003, SUSE Linux Enterprise 10, SUN Solaris 10) are supported?

A. All available operating systems are supported due to open system architecture.

Databases

Q. Which databases are supported by the application?

A. Oracle, IBM DB2, and Microsoft SQL Server 2012 are supported.

Q. Is a database software included?

A. No. If you do not have a database license, you may purchased an ASFU license at low costs.
